The Edgartown select board selected Kaitlin Dore as the new animal control officer on Monday.

Ms. Dore was one of three applicants, beating out Michael Morris and Lou Slingerland. Each of the candidates were interviewed by the select board at the Edgartown Public Library on May 21.

Town administrator James Hagerty said Ms. Dore still needs to accept the position and there’s no determined start date.

Ms. Dore previously worked as a vet tech for Animal Health Care Associates. She was also a reserve police officer with the town of Tisbury. She’s currently working as an account coordinator with Martha’s Vineyard Insurance.

Select board member Art Smadbeck said all three applicants were great, but Ms. Dore stood out.

“I thought she had an excellent interview,” Mr. Smadbeck said. “She has large animal experience.”

If she accepts the job, Ms. Dore will be replacing Kim Andrade, who was terminated by the town earlier this year
