West Tisbury School students Willow Keating and Theodora Houghton are among the 10 winners of a recent statewide contest that asked first-graders to imagine their ideal school.

Children from across the commonwealth submitted drawings to the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA), which chose the winners.

At a ceremony in the document room of the Massachusetts State House in Boston on June 12, state treasurer Deborah Goldberg introduced each of the winning first-graders to an applauding audience of family and teachers.

Theodora and Willow are both students of first-grade teacher Amy Hoff, who traveled to Boston for the ceremony and told the Gazette she was excited to see their success.

One of Ms. Hoff’s previous students, Matahquhs Vanderhoop, was named a winner of the MSBA’s My Ideal School contest in 2023.
