New, as well as returning local artists, makers and farmers, are back at their stations at the Edgartown Village Market this summer, filling tables and tents with vibrant bouquets of flowers, locally sourced eats and handwoven baskets and bangles.

Ashleigh Burton and Lexi Gauthier, co-owners and founders of MV Herbal Apothecary, joined the market for the first time this year.

“It’s really cool to connect with the creative community on the Island and people who come to shop, whether they’re local or tourists,” Ms. Burton said.

MV Herbal Apothecary creates its products by hand and in small batches, made ethically and sourced locally.

“We make tallow body butters and we use beef suet from The Grey Barn, so that’s another way to incorporate the community and a chance for us to source as locally as possible,” Ms. Burton said.

The market is located in the heart of Edgartown, directly behind the Dr. Daniel Fisher House. It runs every Tuesday through August 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The third market of the season took place on July 1 and featured 21 unique local vendors from Catboat Coffee to Fire Cat Farm to Leather Treasure MV.

Jessica Kramer, creator of Hawk House, is another first-time vendor. Her booth was filled with copper electro-formed jewelry made with raw minerals, as well as slip-cast and hand-built ceramics painted soft shades of orange, green and blue.

Ms. Kramer said the Edgartown Village Market is special because of the community it creates.

“My favorite part is my neighbors and talking to the other artists and craftspeople, and makers. It feels like going to camp,” she said.

Joshua Robinson-White, of Vineyard Lights Photography, said he also admires the atmosphere of the market.

“I really love the community of artists that they have here; everyone’s in the same boat,” he said.

Mr. Robinson-White added that these types of local markets have helped his art gain traction over the past two years.

“At a market like this, you’re having thousands of people see your work, so that’s kind of where I’m trying to transition into, places that have a lot of foot traffic,” he said.

Heather Garzero, of Heather Rose, and Hali Baxter, of Falk Designs, are returning to the Edgartown Village Market for their second year.

Ms. Garzero’s tent holds a plethora of hand-dyed garments and bamboo scarves, and Ms. Baxter’s tent displays jewelry and metals that incorporate Island materials, including seaweed and beach sand.

“Last year we shared a booth as our work kind of vibes nicely, and then this year we decided to do our own booth but next to each other,” Ms. Baxter said.

Ms. Baxter and Ms. Garzero said they love how everyone supports each other at the market.

“I look forward to it every week just because it’s this chill, laid back, perfect Vineyard market,” Ms. Garzero said.
