Norman C. Royal Jr. Was Army Master Sergeant

Norman C. Royal Jr., formerly of Worcester and the Vineyard died Sunday, Dec. 26 in Gladstone, Mo. where he had lived for the past four years. He was the husband of Beatrice (Hamilton) Royal.

Mr. Royal was born in Dover, N.H. the son of the late Norman C. and Ruby (Hamilton) Royal. He was a sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II serving in Burma and retired from the Air Force in 1959 as a master sergeant. He had worked for many years as a foreman for the Herald Machine Company in Worcester. He was a member of the Oriental-Martha's Vineyard Masonic Lodge since 1950.

Besides his wife Mr. Royal is survived by two sons, Wayne Royal of Edgartown and Steven Royal of Missouri; three daughters, Janet Royal of Worcester, Carol Royal of East Longmeadow and Judy Royal of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren and three brothers, Gerald Royal of California, Calvin Royal of Worcester and David Royal of Maine.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Monday, Jan. 3 at 12:45 p.m. at the Veterans Administration Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Falmouth.
