A story in last week’s Gazette about Bridge Housing made reference to two letters written by the Island Affordable Housing Fund to Bridge Housing Corp. A September 2008 letter which was discussed by the housing fund board but never signed, contained contingency language for “the commitment of all other financing.” A March 2008 letter that was signed by former housing fund executive director Patrick Manning did not contain the language.
Correction: > A story in the Tuesday Gazette about the Feast of the Holy Ghost carried a picture of Ashley Moreis carrying the crown of Mary, a long-held Portuguese tradition. In fact Sophie Combra was chosen to carry the crown, as shown in the picture above. The Gazette regrets the mix-up.
A story in last Friday’s Gazette about rot in the West Tisbury school misidentified the professional status of Jeffrey Koper. He is a licensed architect, not an engineer. The Gazette regrets the error.
In a story in last week’s Gazette about the NAACP Martin Luther King Day brunch, Laurie Perry-Henry was identified incorrectly. She is president of the Martha’s Vineyard Chapter of the NAACP. Also the story carried an incorrect date for Lincoln’s birthday; the correct day is Feb. 12. The Gazette regrets the errors.
A story in the Tuesday Gazette about an event with the two Island bookstores incorrectly named the owner of Edgartown Books. The owners are David and Ann LeBreton; the manager is Susan Mercier. The Gazette regrets the error.
A story in Friday’s Gazette reported incorrectly on the reopening date of Alchemy restaurant in Edgartown. Alchemy reopened three weeks ago and is very much open for business.

The Chappaquiddick column in Friday’s Gazette carried the wrong byline. The guest author of the column was Brad Woodger. Also in the column the e-mail address for Ron Whitney was missing a character. The correct e-mail address is rwhitney@mspca.org.
A town column in Friday’s Gazette characterized Peter and Cora Weiss as friends of the father of President Obama in the early 1960s. Mrs. Weiss was the executive director of the African American Students Foundation from 1959-63 which brought students from East Africa to the U.S. The President’s father, Barack Obama, came to the University of Hawaii independently, though the foundation awarded him three modest grants to help him buy books, pay for his tuition and personal needs.
A story about The Birthday Club in the Tuesday Gazette incorrectly reported that the Island Food Pantry received government funds. The pantry does purchase more food than is donated, but without any government assistance.
A story in last week’s Gazette previewing the Chilmark annual town meeting inaccurately characterized the town budget. Chilmark was not the only town to see its annual budget go down this year; the West Tisbury budget also went down. The Gazette regrets the error.
