The new telephone building at Vineyard Haven, which is now nearing completion so far as the exterior is concerned, marks the passing of an epoch in the Island history of the telephone and the beginning of a new one.

With the completion of this building and the transfer of the offices and plant of the company to its new quarters, the common battery system will be put into operation in the towns of Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs, and all connections between the Vineyard Haven office and Boston will be by cable.

Edu Comp Building Comes Under Family Ownership

The family of the late Pat Gregory completed purchase of the building in a $1.4 million transaction late last month. The sale insures that Edu Comp, the office supply and computer store founded by Mr. Gregory, will remain in the brick building at the head of Main street.

Educomp Is Apple of Eye

Educomp in Vineyard Haven has been awarded a two-year contract as the exclusive Apple certified sales and service provider on Martha’s Vineyard. Following the closing of Mac Sales and Service, Educomp is now the only business on Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket that has this designation.

Educomp was founded in 1982.
