Chilmark softball began its 84th season Sunday at Flanders Field, honoring the sometimes short stop, always avid Sunday morning softball evangelist and West Tisbury writer Tony Horwitz.

Bill Edison, longtime self-appointed commissioner of Chilmark Sunday softball, has stepped down. A ceremony was held Sunday at Flanders Field.
