The land bank does not have authority to grant easements; instead, it signed a right of entry, akin to a permissive license to enter. The Gazette regrets the error.
Clarification
A headline in a story Tuesday about a forum hosted by the NAACP Legal Defense Fund referred only to the NAACP. The two groups are separate entities.
Correction
A story about the Martha’s Vineyard Peace Council commemoration of the bombing of Hiroshima listed the wrong anniversary since that event. The sunrise vigil was in remembrance of the 67th anniversary.

A story about Island birder Warren Woessner in last Friday’s Gazette incorrectly stated the date of the sighting of the red-footed falcon. The rare bird was spotted on the Island in 2004.
A story about Meet the Coaches night at the regional high school on Tuesday incorrectly stated the time of the event. It begins at 6 p.m.

A story about the Lyme disease support group on the Vineyard in the Friday Gazette contained errors. Sue Hruby’s name was spelled incorrectly, and in one photograph that accompanied the story, the person identified as Enid Haller was in fact Phoenix Becker.

The West Tisbury column last week carried an incorrect date for a memorial service for John W. Mayhew; the service will be held on July 28, not July 24.

A photograph that accompanied a story in the Friday Gazette about the lost art of harpooning swordfish from the Vineyard incorrectly identified a person in the picture. It was Todd Mayhew, not Jeremy Mayhew, who was pictured with his father Greg Mayhew.

Clarifications
A story in the May 18 Gazette stated that regional high school senior Madison Hughes will be the first Vineyard lacrosse player to play the sport at a division one school. In fact, Ms. Hughes will be the first female player to do so; the boys’ program has sent players to division one programs in previous years.

A story in last week’s Gazette about the West Tisbury selectmen’s decision to purchase gas from the Vineyard Transit Authority mistakenly referred to Patrick Jenkinson as Jesse Jenkinson. The Gazette regrets the error.
Clarification
In the story March 23 about the South Wood Farms foreclosure, the Gazette referred to Corey Kupersmith’s former business partner, Keith Crocco, who is named as the plaintiff in a lawsuit against Mr. Kupersmith. Mr. Crocco died in a motorcycle accident in 2009.

In a March 16 story about prescription drugs, Jill De La Hunt, the New Paths Recovery Program coordinator, was referred to as Leslie De La Hunt. In a March 23 story about the Island’s Vision Fellowship, Philippe Jordi’s first name was spelled incorrectly. The Gazette regrets the errors.
