An Island man is being held in the Edgartown house of correction following his arraignment on heroin charges in connection with a fatal overdose. Sean M. Geddis, 25, was arrested on August 1 by Oak Bluffs police.
Alexander Carlson, 30, of Edgartown, was arraigned in Edgartown district court Friday on charges of trafficking in fentanyl and resisting arrest.

Nickerson, associate justice of the superior court. He was sentenced to three to three and a half years at Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction, a maximum security prison in Walpole. The sentence will start Sept. 4.
