With a personal record high jump of 5 feet, 4 inches, Camille Brand is training for the New Balance Nationals Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School boys track team finished in eighth place and the girls team finished in 14th place at the MIAA District 5 meet on Sunday at Reggie Lewis Stadium in Roxbury.

After a rough start out of the gate, the Vineyard boys bounced back in a major way against a hyped-up and undefeated burly Old Rochester Bulldogs team.


Regional high school senior Mackenzie Condon hit another milestone Saturday at the All-State indoor track meet in Boston, where she qualified for the New England Championships.

Mackenzie Condon and Dash Christy became the first indoor track individual state champions from Martha’s Vineyard at the Division 5 state meet.

Nevin Wallace represented Martha’s Vineyard’s indoor track team last weekend at the All State tournament.

It was a busy first week of winter sports as all six teams saw action this week against a variety of opponents.

Winter track has debuted this year as a brand new sport at the regional high school. The head coach for the winter track team is longtime track and cross-country coach Joe Schroeder, and the squad is fielding about 25 student-athletes for its first go-around.
