Think about that when, in all likelihood, he and his band fill the Tabernacle in Oak Bluffs with thousands of parents and children for a free concert on Sunday afternoon and get them clapping, stomping and singing along to tunes such as Elephant Hide and Seek, The Veggie Song and Opposite Day.

Political Satire Steps Into Double Time

In the lull between the primaries and the conventions, get a double dose of political satire on the Vineyard this weekend. Skip the fundraisers (they are so last weekend) and see musical satirists the Capitol Steps Saturday at the Tabernacle at 8 p.m., before catching comedian, political satirist and author of The All-American Sport of Bipartisan Bashing, Will Durst, at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown on Sunday, July 27, at 7 p.m.

Flea Pauses for Book Sale

There will be no Chilmark Flea market on Saturday, July 26, at the West Tisbury School due to the annual West Tisbury Library Book Sale which is held at the West Tisbury School. Parking space will not permit both events. The Chilmark Flea will resume on Wednesday, July 30, and on all subsequent Wednesdays and Saturdays through August 30.

Animal Oil Portraits Show at Dragonfly Until August

The artist reception for Jain Tarnower will be held on Saturday, July 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dragonfly Gallery, 91 Dukes County avenue in Oak Bluffs. The show runs from July 23 through August 3.

Ms. Tarnower has brought the almost-forgotten genre of oil portraiture to new heights with animal portraits ranging from miniature paintings to engaging eight-foot canvases. This classical American style has placed Ms. Tarnower in the forefront of this unique venue.

Artists at Craven Gallery Display a Sense of Place

Three artists will present new exhibitions opening Sunday at Carol Craven Gallery on Breakdown Lane in Vineyard Haven.

Christie Scheele’s show, Changing Winds, is a selection of exquisite atmospheric landscape paintings of Martha’s Vineyard and New York landscapes. This is Ms. Scheele’s fifth exhibition with the gallery.

A wide selection of beautiful eastern seaboard photographs by well-known photographer, Nancy Ellison, also will show at Carol Craven, Ms. Ellison’s fourth show there.
