Giving Back by Getting Fit
Mansion House is putting the “fit” in benefit on Sunday, Dec. 15. The health club at Mansion House will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. for free swimming and workouts and they will donate a pass to Big Brothers/Big Sisters for every visitor they get.

Designed by Life Fitness, the company that brought you the original Lifecycle Equipment, this new state of the art exercise bike is biomechanically designed to ensure a comfortable yet effective workout. Carefully chosen and tested by Fitness Director Brenda Wallis, Lifecycle’s study of human movement and machine interaction impressed Ms. Wallis and she thinks this brand of bike stands at the head of any class.

Health Club Upgrades
Mansion House Health Club just sprinted toward the future, in heart-healthy fashion, of course. The gym recently purchased new high-tech equipment, including elliptical units, treadmills, stationary bikes and crossover equipment with 19-inch touch screen displays that allow users to track fitness goals, surf the web, watch TV, check emails and connect to mobile devices while working out.

Asian Restaurant Will Take Over Mansion House Space
The flavors of Chinatown are coming to Main street in Vineyard Haven.
Island restaurateur J.B. Blau announced this week the opening of Copper Wok, a pan-Asian restaurant at the Mansion House hotel that will feature Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese items and fresh sushi.
Mr. Blau and business partner and chef Alex Nagi will take over operations of Zephrus, the longtime restaurant at the hotel. The restaurant is slated to open in April. Mr. Nagi will be head chef.

A flurry of phone calls, letters, accusations and denials shook Tisbury this week - tremors that followed public suspicions that construction plans for the Mansion House differ from architectural drawings the Martha's Vineyard Commission and the town zoning board of appeals approved in the spring of 2002.

Tisbury Inn Faces Demolition; Water Heater Blamed for Blaze
The owners of the Tisbury Inn plan to demolish the old building early in February, with an eye toward building a new hotel and health center. Susan Goldstein, who with her husband Sherman owns the inn, said yesterday they are talking with local contractors about taking down what remains of the complex, at the head of Main street in Tisbury, which was ruined in a fire that began in the evening of Saturday, Dec. 15.
