Dillon Tree Services of Shrewsbury were at work this week removing a large number of trees along Edgartown-West Tisbury Road that Mass DOT said were a safety hazard for drivers.

Now is the time for red maples (and other species) to come out as their true selves.

After a somewhat testy hearing Monday, Edgartown selectmen deferred a decision on whether to allow two shade trees to be cut down on Cooke street. Contractor Norman Rankow wants permission to remove the two trees from a property at 140 Cooke.
