The West Tisbury library and the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center are collaborating in presenting the inaugural Jonathan Revere Memorial Film Series with the 1939 classic The Women.

On a recent Sunday evening, the West Tisbury Library Community Room was crowded with people leaning over tables covered with white paper bowls. Each bowl was filled with a different kind of seed — some tiny, some huge, some fuzzy, some smooth, and in every shade of red, gray, white, black and brown.

Recent events have shined a spotlight on Ukraine. Alan Brigish will share photos and information from his trip there in 2000 at a presentation at the West Tisbury library.

On Wednesday, May 7, and Wednesday, May 14, from 5 to 6 p.m. the West Tisbury Library will host readings showcasing writers from the Martha's Vineyard Writers Residency program.

Marsha Winsryg is back from a trip to Zambia and will share photos, videos and stories about a new model of cultural exchange at the West Tisbury library.

Judging by the cars parked along both sides of State Road and the full parking lot of Alley’s, it might have been a summer Saturday in West Tisbury. Instead the crowd of more than 150 people were headed to the opening of the new West Tisbury library.

After a fundraising campaign and four years of planning, the West Tisbury Free Public Library is ready to open. Opening day is Saturday, March 22. The ribbon-cutting ceremony begins at 10 a.m.

The grand opening of the West Tisbury library will take place on Saturday, March 22.

The workshops are held Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. through March 25. The poetry workshop is planned for intermediate and advanced writers and is taught by poet Donald Nitchie. The class focuses on critique.

Voters will be asked in April to pay for a small cost overrun of $40,000. The new $6 million town library is set to open in March.
