As a dispute over the athletic fields overhaul at the regional high school heads to court, the Oak Bluffs board of health appears posied to adopt a two-year ban on artificial turf in town.

A sharply divided Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School district committee voted 5-4 Monday night to appeal the Oak Bluffs planning board’s denial of an athletic fields overhaul at the school that includes artifical turf.

With a $7 million overhaul of the high school athletic fields now stalled, the high school committee meets Monday to decide the next steps.

The bitterly debated multi-million-dollar project to overhaul the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School athletics fields was thrown into limbo Wednesday night.
