The Catholic Diocese of Fall River has terminated Joe Capobianco at the Island’s Good Shepherd Parish, eliminating a position that included operating its growing food distribution program.

Nonprofits that feed hundreds of hungry Islanders every week are facing unprecedented reductions in supplies of groceries, at a time when the need is growing. Staffing shortages at the Greater Boston Food Bank are one issue.

2021

On the first and third Saturdays of each month, Good Shepherd Parish becomes a community staging ground as volunteers fill boxes of food for Islanders in need.

Island churches, nonprofit organizations, Stop & Shop and countless volunteers teamed up to provide over 400 Thanksgiving meals to Vineyard families in need this past weekend.
