The popular southern seafood restaurant and night spot in Oak Bluffs was sold to new owners on Wednesday by longtime owner Kathy Domitrovich.
Lola's Southern Seafood re-opened turned on Friday - for the third time in 20 years. Old favorites like Mussels ala Lola will still be offered, and so will a late night dancing scene, but this time mainly with DJs spinning the tunes.
Lola’s may have arrived late to this summer, but the re-opened Oak Bluffs dining establishment will dance its way out of this hot summer with what’s billed as nothing less than a Labor Day End of Season Blow-Out Pajama Party Buffet.
Admission is $20 on Monday night, Sept. 6. The party featuring deejay Steve starts at 9 p.m., and it’s bring your own pj’s and dancing shoes.
For loyal customers, the heart and soul of Oak Bluffs has returned: Lola’s is back in business. On Friday night at 10 p.m., the parking lot was full, the music was playing and friends were dancing, rejoicing in the reopening of the restaurant. It was as if it never left.
“It’s like prohibition is over!” one customer declared. “Our Island is a happy place again,” said another.
Kathy and Paul Domitrovich, the owners of Lola’s Southern Seafood restaurant and nightclub in Oak Bluffs, will close their doors after 15 seasons of doing business on the Vineyard.
In a statement released Monday, the owners announced that they will sell the restaurant to Doug and Leslie Hewson, owners of the Mediterranean in Vineyard Haven.
