• 269 acres, Vineyard Haven
  • 2,605-acre watershed spans Vineyard Haven and West Tisbury, very small part in Oak Bluffs

This tidal saltwater lake is situated on the north shore, opening to Vineyard Sound through a wide channel flanked by jetties and a white-sand beach. Lake Tashmoo’s natural resources, including recreational boating and shellfishing, are important to Vineyard Haven. Many homes have been built around the pond through the decades and nitrogen levels are on the rise. Bay scallop populations and eelgrass beds, once abundant, are now scarce.
