The 24th annual Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival was in full flow over weekend, with new documentary and narrative films showing day and night in West Tisbury, Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs.

When a shipwrecked sailor, an Indian ballet dancer, a pair of escaped Afghan interpreters and an assortment of movie makers are all headed for the Vineyard in March, it can mean only one thing: The Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival is back.

For five days the heart of West Tisbury was transformed into a movable feast of cinema for the 23rd annual Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival.

The 23rd Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival opened Wednesday evening at the Grange Hall with Waiting to Continue: The Venezuelan Asylum Seekers on Martha’s Vineyard. The festival continues through Sunday.

At this year’s Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival, the glue binding together many of its 28 films is the Vineyard and the creativity of the Island community.

Ticket sales start Friday for the Martha's Vineyard Film Festival, which brings more than three dozen new documentaries, features and shorts from around the world to West Tisbury and Vineyard Haven March 22-March 26.
