Martha’s Vineyard Community Services has chosen its two-time interim CEO as its next chief executive officer.
Scott Turton was named to the top role on Tuesday. Mr. Turton was appointed the interim CEO on March of 2026, following the resignation of Dean Teague, and also served that function in 2024 after Beth Folcarelli retired.
Before becoming interim CEO, Mr. Turton served as the organization’s longtime chief operating officer.
In a statement Tuesday, Amy Gavin, MVCS board president, praised Mr. Turton’s work and experience.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have someone with Scott’s experience, knowledge and commitment at the helm of MVCS at this pivotal time in the agency’s history,” she said. “Scott has been at the heart of MVCS for years, and he understands the client-driven mission and day-to-day workings of the organization. He knows our people, programs, challenges, and, most importantly, the community we serve.”
Prior to joining MVCS in 2021 as chief administrative officer, Mr. Turton spent 20 years at Gosnold on Cape Cod in clinical and administrative leadership roles. He holds a master’s degree of social work from Wilfrid Laurier University and a bachelor’s degree in European history from Western University.
In the announcement, Mr. Turton said he was looking forward to continuing his work at the organization.
“MVCS truly belongs to the Martha’s Vineyard community and embodies the care and compassion of the dedicated team that I have the privilege to work with every day,” Mr. Turton said. “I am excited to build on their incredible accomplishments, as well as the contributions of our board, volunteers, partners and many generous donors. I look forward to continuing our important work together to ensure MVCS remains a vital resource for Islanders for generations to come.”
