Post-season play begins Thursday at home for the seventh-seeded Vineyard boys baseball team, which goes up against 10th-seed Hanover. Game time is 3:15 p.m. at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School field.

“Offensively, we’ve had the best year . . . and I think we have a very good chance,” assistant coach David Smith told the Gazette Wednesday.

The boys team has a record of 12 and 7. Hanover’s record is 11 and 9. The two teams are in different leagues and have not played against each other this year.

Seven seniors started this year; most of them have been playing together since Little League.

A special tribute to the graduating seniors will follow the game, after Monday’s senior day match against Bishop Feehan was cancelled due to weather.
