Annabel Barbara de Bragança and Andrea Papi were married on June 22 at the Church of San Luigi dei Francesi in Rome. Msgr. François Bousquet, rector of the church, officiated. A reception followed at the Villa Livia, a villa on the ancient Roman road, the Via Appia Antica.
The bride is a consultant with Lenati, a Seattle-based marketing and sales strategy consultancy. She graduated from St. George’s School in Newport, R.I. and earned her bachelor’s degree cum laude from the George Washington University. In 2018, she received an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
Annabel is the daughter of Miguel and Barbara (Suki) de Bragança of Boston and West Tisbury. Her father retired as a managing director and portfolio manager at Trinity Investment Management Corporation, an institutional investment management firm that was eventually acquired by OppenheimerFunds. Her mother is a trustee and past president of the Alliance Française of Boston/Cambridge, now merged into Boston’s French Cultural Center. She was awarded the designation Chevalier dans l’Ordre du Mérite by the French government and is also a trustee of the New England Conservatory of Music.
Annabel has spent at least part of every summer since she was born on Martha’s Vineyard at Windy Hill, the house her maternal great-grandparents built on Old County Road. Next door lived her maternal grandmother Barbara (Bunny) Foote Fales, whom she visited nearly every day when on-Island. Through that side of her family, her Vineyard roots go back 12 generations.
Her sister Camilla served as maid of honor and her Vineyard next-door neighbor and childhood friend Elizabeth Brandon was a bridesmaid. Her brother Miguel Samuel de Bragança, served as a groomsman. Annabel’s first cousin Elise Hillman Green, who summers in Chilmark at her family farm, attended the wedding with her son Harrison and two daughters, Ridgely and Chandler, who served as junior bridesmaids.
Andrea is an aerospace and thermal engineer at SpaceX, based at their Redmond, Washington facility. He received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Sapienza Università di Roma, both summa cum laude, and a joint master’s degree from the École Nationale Supérieure de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace in Toulouse, France.
He is the son of Carlo and Simona Papi of Rome, Italy. His father spent the majority of his career as an engineer and manager with SELEX Elsag Datamat, SpA where he still serves as a consultant today. His mother is a stay-at-home parent.
The couple met through friends in 2012 when they were living and working in Paris.
They plan a honeymoon in New Zealand early in the new year.
