Town Bar & Grill MV (aka Town), a year-round favorite in Edgartown, is shaking things up for the summer season. The welcoming, relaxed vibe hasn’t changed a bit, and the service is still friendly and efficient. But there are some tasty new starters and main courses on the menu for you to check out. And Town’s delicious sushi menu has even more options.
The cocktail list also has a few new libations under bar manager Camilla Tamargo, including a “Cocktail for the Community,” with one dollar from every cocktail sold donated to the Animal Shelter of Martha’s Vineyard. This month’s Cocktail for the Community, the Watermelon Sugar High, is perfect for warm summer evenings: a refreshing blend of vodka, fresh watermelon, sugar and a splash of lemon juice. It’s also available as a mocktail.
The spacious bar has plenty of seats and televisions to watch World Cup matches, and the patio has reopened if you want to enjoy outdoor dining. And if you’d like some recommendations, here are five things we especially enjoyed on recent visits.
Five Favorites

1) Asian Crispy Rice Salad ($18) This fresh, satisfying salad is bursting with flavor and texture. Consider this combination: a ginger dressing, fresh scallions, greens, edamame, cucumber and cilantro — plus the crunch of cabbage, peanuts and crispy rice balls. It’s perfect for a main course or a shared starter, and you can add a protein of your choice. It is vegan and alpha-gal friendly.

2) Crispy Chicken Katsu Sandwich ($18) The newest sandwich at Town is a killer: a juicy, panko-crusted chicken cutlet and fresh slaw served on white bread slathered with Japanese mayonnaise. Don’t plan to share this one. Add a side of the best sweet potato fries on the Island (or regular fries) to complete the experience.

3) Pretzel Bites with Pimento Cheese Dip ($10) For a shareable starter or bar nibble, order the pretzel bites. These soft, buttery snacks are topped with a smattering of salt and are perfect alone or with a spoonful of house-made pimento cheese dip.

4) T23 Spicy Tuna Naruto Sushi Roll ($19) This is no ordinary roll: the T23 features spicy tuna with avocado, but it is wrapped in cucumber rather than rice and seaweed. Drizzled with ponzu sauce, it’s stunning to look at but even better to eat.

5) Tempura Shrimp Roll with Jalapeño ($12) Serving perfectly fried shrimp tempura in a sushi roll is a challenge, but Town pulls it off. Their version includes avocado, and jalapeño adds a nice spicy note to counteract that creaminess. You can share it or make it a meal.
