The big crowds will arrive Thursday for the opening day of the annual Agricultural Society fair, but activity got underway Wednesday as a parade of Islanders brought their entries to the Agricultural Hall in West Tisbury. This year there are 3,500 fair entries.

Would-be blue ribbon winners affixed entry tags to jewel-toned jars of jam and assembled art exhibits while a team of volunteers processed entries and put everything in its place. In the barn, stacks of cages were ready for chickens and fresh hay lined empty stalls. Prize winners will be revealed and all the entries on display when the Ag Hall doors open after judging Thursday afternoon.
