Unwise Unnecessary

I am writing to help inform the Island community of a proposed project that threatens to forever alter not only one of the last remaining wooded areas of Edgartown, but also the tenuous health of one of the island’s most important natural resources, the Edgartown Great Pond.

Trustees Name New Islands Director

Sam Hart of Aquinnah has been named Islands director for the Trustees of Reservations, the land conservancy announced in a press release this week. An Island native, Mr. Hart will leave his post as executive director of ACE MV.

Braving Middle Earth and One Angry Dragon

The Charter School performs the Hobbit this weekend, with kindergartners though high schoolers embodying dwarves, elves, walking trees and the wizard Gandalf. Performances are at the Grange Hall on Friday and Saturday.

Aquinnah Special Town Meeting Is Tonight

Aquinnah voters gather tonight for a single-article special town meeting to add their voice to the long-debated multi-million-dollar overhaul of the regional high school athletic fields. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the old town hall. A quorum of 35 voters is needed.
