Island Light: Stormy
Wind and rain arrived in force and set the tone. A dog looked out the window and said no thanks, then turned back to the nap in progress. The same thought was had by many, although some hardy souls went out to have a look at what the storm had wrought.
Island Light: Falling
Fall beckons, waiting its turn to take the baton from summer. It is a familiar exchange, but also prone to the occasional fumble, when one season is not ready to give way to the other. Like now, perhaps. After all, the sun still sparkles with warmth, the water sends out lovely invites.
Island Light: Shine On
The light shifts — its color, its intensity, its time of day. At ease rather than at attention. Quiet and maybe a bit mysterious instead of holding forth on all manner of activities. The light can do that, shape shift so that it sings a different melody, produces a different mood.
Island Light: September’s Story
A September story takes its own sweet time. Its twists and turns prefer a meandering approach, one more suited to the end of season. Why rush, the narrative asks of its reader when everything you need is right here, among the cool mornings and dappled sunlight of late afternoon.

Island Light: Make Way for August
August arrives and gets a bit of a bad rap. The summer is over, some say. Where did it go, others wonder aloud. Time to pack up, roll up the towels, kick off the sand, rummage around the back of the closet for the cozy sweater in preparation for the cool nights of fall.
Island Light: Ebb and Flow
July stretches its wings for one last week. What to do, it wonders, while still in the catbird seat, before August comes and says, see you next year? It could throw some shade, or keep it sunny and bright.
Island Light: In Tune
July continues its summer song, mostly on key but sometimes not. The high notes are there but the bass notes sometimes sit just out of reach — and vice versa. Harmony is what you make of it, here in mid-summer.
Island Light: Where To?
A destination can be planned, when to head out, when to arrive, what to do there and what to bring: snacks, water, a hat, the dog, a second pair of socks, a lucky charm, a pet parrot or tame wolverine.
