July continues its summer song, mostly on key but sometimes not. The high notes are there but the bass notes sometimes sit just out of reach — and vice versa. Harmony is what you make of it, here in mid-summer.
The mood can shift in a moment’s notice, from here to there, elated to the half empty glass. What to make of this swirl is always the question? A dash of this, a dose of that, it all adds up to a day, a moment, a backward glance.
Breath in, breath out. Rinse. Repeat.
Breath in, breath out.

You have made me very homesick for what I consider my second home, Martha’s Vineyard. I have fished your derby for over 30 years the last 12 for all 5 weeks. My island friends keep me informed of news and happenings but your pictures make me so excited to know that in about 6 weeks I will be there to once again live a life you all do year round. I would never entertain the idea of passing myself off as an islander when I’m on island but am honored that you embrace me for my 5 weeks as someone worthy of being welcomed back each year.
