The Vineyard Conservation Society (VCS) has created several new water bottle refill stations across the Vineyard, expanding access to drinking water while helping residents and visitors reduce their reliance on single-use plastic.

The newest addition is an outdoor refill station at the Martha’s Vineyard Shellfish Group’s John T. Hughes Hatchery, made possible through a grant from the Edey Foundation.

Other new stations this year include a unit at the information booth in Oak Bluffs, next to the Flying Horses and two stations at each of the Tisbury School playgrounds.

VCS has also partnered with Oak Bluffs School to install a new indoor refill station in the school gym. The school’s eighth-grade students raised a portion of the funds as a graduation gift to their school.

Through its Take Back the Tap initiative, VCS has now helped provide refill stations at more than 32 locations across the Island, all of which can be found on the VCS Tap Map.
