The summer evening’s brightest planet has disappeared. Tomorrow, Venus reaches inferior conjunction. It is now in such close proximity to the sun and us, we can’t see it. The planet is between us and the sun. Venus doesn’t get much closer to us. It is only 25 million miles away. Consider that the sun is about 93 million miles away.
Stay tuned, the story continues. In the weeks ahead Venus will peak its head in the morning sky. From now through winter, Venus becomes a morning planet and remains a morning planet until June of next year.
Astronomers tell us that Venus may not be visible now but it will be visible in the morning sky for sure around Thanksgiving. And it will be at its highest in the morning sky come January.
