Martha’s Vineyard public libraries will launch their summer reading program with an event at 11 a.m. On Saturday, July 2, at the Agricultural Hall. The event for those ages three to nine.

This year’s statewide summer reading initiative has the theme On Your Mark, Get Set, Read. The Saturday program will feature Boston-based entertainer Jungle Jim, who will offer balloon artistry, magic, comedy, storytelling and improvisation. There will also be archery, basketball, fencing, and Scottish caber toss as well.

Admission is $3 per person (babies in arms free), and face painting is $1 before the program. The event is sponsored by the Martha’s Vineyard Library Association and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. More information is available at your local library.
