Doug Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, will be visiting the Vineyard next week, taking the place of First Lady Jill Biden at a campaign fundraiser.

Mr. Emhoff, who visited the Island last year during a campaign stop with the vice president, will sit down for a chat with comedian David Letterman at the July 29 Harris Victory Fund event, according to an invitation obtained by the Gazette.

The event is scheduled for the afternoon at an undisclosed address in Vineyard Haven.

Ms. Biden was originally scheduled to headline the event, but the lineup was shuffled after President Joe Biden announced Sunday he would not seek reelection.

Ms. Harris has been a regular visitor to the Vineyard and her sister owns a home here.

The event is being hosted by Hawaii Gov. Josh Green and his wife Jamie Kanani Green, Ann Baum, Kenneth and Dede Feinberg, Carol and C. Bernard Fulp, Eric Green and Carmin Reiss and Robin Leeds.

Tickets ranged from $1,000 to $25,000.

The New York Times reported that the campaign also planned to have fundraiser on Nantucket.
