The owners of a luxury women’s fashion brand with a storefront location on Martha’s Vineyard were reportedly found dead outside their California home Friday morning.
Bryn Walker founders Michelle Min and Bryan Walker were reportedly found with fatal wounds outside their residence in Oakland, Calif. after the Oakland and Berkeley police departments responded to gunshots near the couple’s residence. Oakland police said they found a firearm at the scene.
Police have not ruled out a murder-suicide and are not seeking a suspect at large, the department said at a press conference last week.
Bryn Walker has a location on Main street in Vineyard Haven and has long been an Island staple. A Bryn Walker franchise in Edgartown closed in 2024. Its only two other locations are in Berkeley, Calif.
The Gazette’s attempts to reach representatives from the company and the Vineyard Haven store were unsuccessful. The Tisbury storefront’s voicemail greeting states that the store is closed until further notice, and it was closed when the Gazette visited during normal operating hours Monday.
Ms. Min’s brother, Paul Min, told the Los Angeles Times he believes Mr. Walker killed Ms. Min before committing suicide. He said Mr. Walker had recently lost millions of dollars through risky investments and alluded to having suicidal ideations. He also said the family was trying to hospitalize Mr. Walker.
The Oakland Police Department declined to provide any details to the Gazette, citing an active investigation.
