MVYouth has awarded scholarships to 10 graduating high school seniors in the class of 2026, amounting to nearly $600,000.
The scholarships offer four years of last-dollar funding for high school seniors who qualify for financial support for college and workforce development.
Regional high school students receiving college scholarships are Syius Rigali, who will attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Charlotte Sebastian, who will attend Providence College, Tasman Strom, who will attend Northeastern University, and Milo Sullivan, who will attend University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Nicola Capece, a senior at the Martha's Vineyard Public Charter School, will attend Swarthmore College, and recieved a scholarship.
Scholarships for regional high school students focusing on health care and education went to Emily Boyd, who will attend Wellesley College to pursue a career in health care, Elle Mone, who will attend Middlebury College to pursue a career in education, and Amelia Russell Schaeffer, who will attend Wesleyan University to pursue a career in health care.
Workforce development scholarships went to Savannah Matthews, who will attend the Collectiv Academy to pursue training in cosmetology, and Xeandre Miller, who will attend Cape Cod Community College to pursue training in aviation maintenance technology.
MVYouth was founded in 2014 and since then has dedicated over $9 million in college and technical training scholarships for 123 students. In that time it has also awarded $13.6 million in capital funding to Island organizations serving children, teens and young adults.
“We are so grateful to be able to help so many students take advantage of the outstanding educational opportunities they have earned without taking on debt that will burden them and their families,” wrote Lindsey Scott, MVYouth’s executive director, in a statement announcing the scholarship recipients.
