The girls tennis team is one step closer in its division 3 playoff run after a 4-1 win in the round of 16 against North Reading on Monday afternoon.
The Vineyarders took control of the courts quickly against the 16th seed, with all but first singles cleaning up in two sets.
“The girls played great today, great competitive spirit, from first singles all the way through to doubles,” said head coach Bill Rigali. “I’m very proud of the girls and, [we’re] getting ready for a couple good days of practice.”
The quarterfinals will be played later in the week against either Wilmington High School or Falmouth High School, who will play each other on Wednesday. As the number one seed in the division three championships, the Vineyard will once again have home court advantage.
The team faces 8th seeded Wilmington in the quarterfinals in a home match on Friday, June 5, beginning at 3 p.m.
