Bonnie Scott, of Oak Bluffs and Edgartown, died on July 26, 2002. She was 49.

An obituary notice at the time of her death was incomplete.

A lifelong Vineyarder, Bonnie was known for her sharp intelligence, quick humor and the unmistakable charisma that made her unforgettable to everyone who knew her. She carried herself with a natural confidence and independence that shaped her life and the relationships she built across the Island.

Born and raised in Oak Bluffs, Bonnie graduated from Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School in 1971, where she was remembered for her lively spirit, her friendships and her ability to bring energy into any room she entered. After spending several years off-Island, she returned home to the Vineyard, where she remained deeply connected to the community she loved.

She had a gift for forming lasting bonds. Friends recall her fierce loyalty, her honesty and her ability to make people feel seen and understood. She moved through life with a rare combination of wit, warmth, and clarity — qualities that made her presence both grounding and electric.

She is remembered with deep affection by her extended family, her friends throughout the Island and all who were touched by her life.

A private remembrance was held at the time of her death.
