What could have been a nasty accident last Saturday evening in Menemsha was averted thanks to Carl the parking officer, who when guiding me out from my parking spot noticed my back wheel was about to fall off.
The kindness that followed is memorable, from Carl’s observant eye and quick thinking, to the efforts of two Chilmark police officers who made sure that two elderly ladies got home safely.
And thanks also goes to my son who lives on the Island and called a tow truck which arrived promptly.
Kindness still flourishes in Chilmark.
