Jay Lagemann’s sculptures have long brought joy and creativity to the Island. A harpooner in Menemsha, the First Family in Oak Bluffs, people at play at the Field Gallery — his art made one smile and want to stop and spend some time with his figures. Mr. Lagemman died on Sept. 9 at the age of 82, but his influence remains, timeless as ever.
