Welcome to New England. Our January thaw turned into a winter wonderland overnight. The nice thing was that it happened at night over the long weekend, and I am sure even though it is a wet snow, the kids are taking advantage of the sledding at Sweetened Water Farm.
Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Pedro Oliveira, who celebrated Jan. 19; Emerson Kozlowski, Jan. 20; Henry Scott, Brian Rodrigues, Jan. 21; and to Nathan Carletti, who celebrated his day on Jan. 22.
It is January and news is limited. I have been reading all the town news from my fellow columnists. As I was gazing through the columns, I spotted the date Jan. 9, which was my mother’s birthday. I read on and found it was a birthday wish to Ann Burt, who is celebrating her 90th birthday. My mind went right back to when Ann, Judy Hathaway, Louise Yapp, Gladys Welch and Roxanne Smith were all nurses at the hospital. What a team they were. They knew what they were doing, but they also had a devilish side to them which I witnessed when my mom was a patient. I was always so happy to see Ann when my parents needed her. Happy birthday Ann, hope you had a special day.
My friend bought a new car and gave me a ride in it around town. It still mind blowing how many houses are being built, which has been keeping many contractors in business. We went to South Beach and it was pretty as ever. Not so inviting for a swim but the waves were beautiful. I am still not used to seeing the beach from Atlantic Drive, but it saves us from a cold walk on the beach. In usual winter manner, we were able to stop the car and enjoy the view for a few minutes and tried to find the marker for the bunker. It wasn’t clear enough to see the wind turbines, but you could see where the waves were starting to form. It was the favorite part of the ride, plus she got a real nice car.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
