Here we are two weeks after the first big storm. We escaped the last one and the snow piles are still like mountains. And we are still trying to make paths wider.

But there is hope as the temperature is finally going to get above freezing this weekend so there may be some melting. I think there are bets on how long the mounds of snow will be here. I am not a betting woman, but I think they will be here through March.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Lucille Morrison, who celebrated her day Feb. 7; Isabella Hill, Finnian Welch, Feb. 9; Lucca Rosa, Feb. 10; and to Josiah Stennett who celebrated his day Feb. 12.

Once again it is a slow time of year. Our big outings are work, the Post Office, and Stop & Shop. It seems with all the snow and ice home is where you want to be. But the Stop & Shop is almost pleasant. You can get up and down the isles easy and you run into people you know.

Even though we did not win the Super Bowl, and it was not as exciting as we thought it would be, the consensus is that we did better than we thought this season. And we still have the Olympics. They have been a great source of entertainment for me at least. I am even watching curling!

I stopped by the nursery the other day to say hi to everyone and of course the floral department is busy getting ready for Valentine’s Day. The green house has some great houseplants but my favorite was the fact that the ranunculus and cineraria are growing for spring. They, along with pansies, daffodils and tulips, come with the hope of warmth and sunshine.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
