The mountains of snow are slowly melting into hills. We can see brown grass in spots, and I did not think I could get excited about seeing the leaves that did not get raked showing themselves in spots in the garden. You can hear the gutter pipes with running melted snow and the see little crevices it makes in the snow by the buildings. So, one day at a time and slowly the snow will go away.
Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to Miguel Marques and Moreira Furtado, who celebrated Feb. 14; Bryson Felix, Maria Gomes, Feb. 15; Beatrice Guimaraes, Feb. 16; Anthony Lima, Milena Gomes Da Silva, Feb. 17; Joshua Lloyd, Feb. 18; and Penelope Bedo, Feb. 20.
I was standing at the kitchen sink on Tuesday and looked out the window to find about 40 to 50 robins on the hedges. They were eating all the berries and having a great time. There were also a few grackles in the mix. Then on Wednesday they found the berries on the greens on my front steps. From what I hear they are winter robins, not the robins we like to see for spring. Either way I enjoyed watching them.

It has been sort of a family joke as my nephew Doug loves to watch curling. I particularly teased him about it and said it was boring and I could not understand it. But now I have been watching and I have to say I have enjoyed it. Who knew?
