We are in September weather — warm during the day and cool at night for sleeping. Even sitting outside is pleasant, but the sun is still very warm and I am not complaining.
Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to all the kids that had a birthday and even go back to school. Most of the younger kids will be happy, the older ones maybe not so happy. However you celebrated, I hope you had a great day.
It was nice to see Zack Waller and his three little girls, Katia, Sophie and Charlotte who were here to visit Zack’s parents Steven and Pat Waller. They had a nice visit, and I enjoyed having pizza one night with them. Mother Ellen was home holding down the fort for a few days.
Labor Day seemed to go by quickly and the weather cooperated. There have been many Labor days that have been rainy and very stormy, so it was nice this year that people could get some beach time in before heading home. Now we are changing our schedules to a different pace and we can start to change our travel time — even though we don’t have far to go, those extra five or ten minutes we save with no traffic is like a vacation.
I was going to work and arrived at the stop sign at Cook Street and Edgartown/West Tisbury Road. Something made me remember when there was no stop sign on any of those corners. People just drove through the intersection with such freedom, but with courtesy. Then when more and more people were here it was a little more dangerous and there were a few accidents. After a while it was a concern and there were even bumper stickers saying, “I survived the Cook Street intersection.”
It is the 25th anniversary of 9/11, and I remembering those who lost their lives that day. Our thoughts are with those families left behind.
Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
