Layers are the answer for apparel these past few days. It starts out quite cool in the morning and by noon you are down to your long sleeves. Flip flops are optional if you are brave but again by noon you are okay. Listening to the next few days of weather reports, it is definitely time to bring in the houseplants if you have them still outside.

Happy Birthday to all who celebrated their day this past week. Big balloons go out to those school children who celebrated their day. The school list will be available next week so hopefully I will catch up soon.

I went into the Stop & Shop and walked by the big candy section and found candy canes! Halloween hasn’t even happened yet but here we are looking at candy canes. It’s only 10 weeks until Santa arrives, but those of you with children the Elf on the Shelf will be arriving soon.

Lisa Dawley took a break from the animal shelter and along with her cousins, Linda and Greg Johnson, traveled to Eastern Europe for 10 days. They enjoyed the pigeons in Krakow, the Charles Bridge in Prague and the Bathes in Budapest. I even saw a picture of Lisa on horseback. They had a wonderful trip with many great memories.

The nursery ladies and former coworker Paula DelloRusso went to dinner at Rockfish last Friday night. We had enough people to make a reservation, which was definitely a good thing as it was a very busy night. We all wished, though, that we could have made parking reservations. I left early enough but town was full. The sidewalks were busy, there was a bride and groom having a photo op at the Wharf, the docks were full of people enjoying ice cream and people going to wedding rehearsals and parties. I drove around town three times, but at least I got to see things I had not seen all summer which was a good thing.

We all found parking spaces as we laughed passing each other in our cars knowing we were all going to be late, but Patty had arrived on time to keep our reservation.  Once again Rockfish did not disappoint. We all enjoyed our dinner and had fun with Paula before she left for her next training session — she is working for the TSA at the airport. We miss her and we are always happy to get together.

Have a great week and keep the home candles burning.
