The VFW post in Oak Bluffs sold a $15 million winning lottery ticket this week to a Vineyard Haven-based trust.
The Dad and Daughters Trust claimed the third and final grand prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s Millions instant ticket game, according to a lottery spokesperson.
The trust, represented by trustee John Kennan Jr., opted to receive the prize in a one-time lump sum payment of $9.75 million, before taxes.
Mr. Kennan said the winner plans to use the money to take care of their family.
The winning ticket was cashed in on Thursday and was sold from the VFW Post 9261 on Towanticut avenue. The VFW will receive a $50,000 bonus for the sale of the ticket.
