The songs that made Hitsville U.S.A. a worldwide sensation will be heard at the Tabernacle in Oak Bluffs on Monday, August 10, during a free community concert hosted by the Motown Museum.

The museum is located in Detroit and dedicated to preserving the history and impact of Motown music.

Motown Monday will offer performances by emerging artists from Hitsville Next, the museum’s creative and education hub. Attendees can expect to hear hits from Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye and Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, among others.

According to Tristan Fisher, the artistic director for Motown Museum’s Hitsville Next, the concert promises to be a high energy event.

“We want people to engage, let their hair down, sweat a little bit and have fun,” said Mr. Fisher. “We want the audience to give energy back to us. We want everyone to feel involved in this performance and everyone to enjoy the music that has brought people together for generations. That is Motown.”

Founded by Berry Gordy in 1959 in the city of Detroit, the Motown sound has evolved to encapsulate many kinds of music.

“Motown music has been something that’s brought generations and people together for over 65 years,” said Mr. Fisher. “It’s a human genre. It’s a human language. It’s a united genre that brings people together from all walks of life, all races, all ages and all generations.”

The show at the Tabernacle on Monday begins 6 p.m. For additional information, visit motownmusuem.org.
