Tomorrow we’ve got a good looking full moon, a Harvest Moon, rising in the east with the setting of the sun. Why is it called a Harvest Moon?
The Harvest Moon is the closest full moon to the first day of autumn, which was earlier this week, on Tuesday, September 22. The moon will be in the zodiacal constellation, one of the largest of constellations in the zodiac.
While we look at a weekend of bad windy weather, this full moon will not be a huge tidal contributor. The moon will not be close, in perigee and that is good news for those of us watching storm tides.
On Sunday, look up at the moon again for the moon appearing near the bright planet Saturn. Saturn is near us, reaching opposition on October 4.
