Sally Lovell Brainard, of Newport, R.I. died on April 24. She was 84.
Sally was a longtime resident of Edgartown and a lifetime visitor to Martha’s Vineyard.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, John E. Brainard II, and her daughter, Cynthia Brainard Armellini, son-in-law, Richard Aldrich Armellini, grandsons Alexander Aldrich Armellini, daughter-in-law Megan Forman Armellini and Benjamin Brainard Armellini, daughter-in-law Katherine Sondag Armellini and four great grandchildren.
Sally grew up in Darien, Conn. and graduated from Darien High School and Centenary College in Hackettstown, N.J. She was a kind and beautiful person who was a caregiver her entire life benefiting children and older people with her volunteer work.
She loved being with her family and always supported everyone with their education and athletic activities. She loved all her dogs as well.
Sally was a former member of Indian Harbor Yacht Club, Ida Lewis Yacht Club and Edgartown Yacht Club. She was a sailor who enjoyed racing aboard the yacht Bolero and the family Shields. She also loved playing tennis at the Edgartown Yacht Club.
Sally was beautiful in every regard and was a blessing to those who knew and loved her.
