Some years May heads out the door in a bit of a huff, so much wind and rain wandering in its wake. Then there is the pollen, drifting through the air, covering everything from windshields and garden beds, to the backpacks and sneakers left out in the yard. Sneezes and sniffles are abundant too, providing an explosive back-beat to this end of spring.

But the water warms, even if the whitecaps look rather frosty out there, racing each other to the jetty. But a passing swimmer, toweling off after a dip, remarked it felt okay, still a bit of a shock but not breath-taking.

Such is life, here on the cusp of June.
