Shopping with a cause is in order next Tuesday, July 23 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Grange Hall in West Tisbury. The African artists craft sale offers jewelry, fabrics, baskets, carvings and more with the proceeds benefitting orphans and disabled children in Zambia.

Acclaimed author Ward Just visits the Vineyard Haven Library at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 21. He will read from and discuss his upcoming novel.
Valentine Estabrook brings her solo show to the Dockside Inn on Saturday, July 20, from 4 to 7 p.m.. Her works include plein-air pastel and oil paintings of the Island landscape.
The Dockside Inn is located at 9 Circuit avenue extension in Oak Bluffs. Ms. Estabrook will provide a demonstration along with information about online and on-Island workshops.
It’s almost your last chance donate to the annual book sale sponsored by the Friends of the West Tisbury Library. They are still collecting donations for sale in the gym of the West Tisbury School on Old County Road. What they are looking for: used books in good condition. What they are not looking for: encyclopedias, magazines, outdated or obsolete books or those old moldy and mildewy books that have been lying around your basement for years.
Tara Edge Schoenfeld and Marc Schoenfeld of Vineyard Haven announce the birth of a son, Logan Alexander Schoenfeld, born on June 18 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.
From rockabilly to pop, rock and blues to jazz-rock, New Rhythm and Blues Quartet, NRBQ, can just about play it all. Founded by pianist Terry Adams in 1967, the band is known for its diverse sound and high-energy live performances. Recently Mr. Adams revamped the band’s lineup and has been as busy as ever, churning out two albums — one live, one from the studio — in the past two years. Another studio album is in the works. NRBQ returns to Martha’s Vineyard to play at Flatbread this Sunday, July 21, after a long time away from the Island.
