Starting From Seed

I will do anything to avoid doing my taxes. Honestly I need to be locked in an empty room with my receipts and no phone.

Hard Knocks

With a deer, you would never grab the bull by the horns.

For a few good reasons: Male deer are not called bulls, they are bucks, and they do not have horns, only antlers. Antlers and horns are two distinctly different accessories.

Love at First Bird Sight

There are all manner of firsts, first steps, first love, first kiss and, for birders, a first sighting of a particular bird species. Known as a “lifer,” or life bird, the view of a species which had escaped you previously or is in a new habitat is exciting. A fair percentage of bird-watchers keep life lists which contain all the birds they have seen, where they saw them and when. Other birders just sense when they are seeing a bird for the first time.

Just Say Yes to Improv, IMP After-School Classes Begin

The art of improv is the art of saying yes. In other words, whatever is offered up during the performance by the audience or fellow actors, the main ingredient to success is to go with it.

Sounds like a sound philosophy for life or at least for getting through the tough, or merely odd moments, that pop up each day. And what better time in one’s life to embrace this message than when we are young.

Enter, stage left, IMP improv for kids.

Are You There Comcast? It’s Me, Chappy

W hat is the problem with extending Comcast service to Chappy? Is it so ridiculous to think that those who live on Chappy would like access to the same 21st century technology available to the rest of Edgartown like TV, high speed internet, access to MVTV or emergency broadcasts, etc? A few of us on the island are able to get DSL and the rest a WISP service, the lowest tech option available for end-of-line areas off the map.
