West Tisbury Town Column: August 30

Have you seen any otters galumphing around town? Twice this summer our town clerk Tara Whiting-Wells reported seeing otter families afoot, probably moving from one pond to another.

Chicago was the host of the Democratic National Convention last week and brought forth many historical markers worth underscoring. In 1968 Mayor Richard Daley quelled protesters with harsh police action. This year Mayor Brandon Johnson made space for protesters and with minimum disruption allowed peaceful symbols of discontent.

Flooding thunder and lightning storm and hail. Where I am we got very little hail but just up the street they had moth ball size hail, and they could scoop it up.
